I used to be intimidated by red lipstick. I thought I wasn’t bold or glamorous enough to pull it off, but curiosity got the best of me and I found myself at the drugstore browsing the makeup aisle. I decided on a cherry red shade from Revlon and rushed home to try it on. To my surprise, I loved how it looked on me, but more importantly, I loved how I felt in it. There is just something about a red lip that has the ability to change your entire energy. It makes me feel empowered, put together, and ready to take on the world. I’ve tried a lot of red lipstick since that moment, so here are some that I think you need to try this fall!
Chanel Rouge Allure Liquid Powder
First up is my favorite of the bunch. Chanel Rouge Allure Liquid Powder has been a staple in my makeup bag since the collection launched last Autumn. It is a creamy, matte liquid with a powdery finish.
These liquid powders give a velvety, blurred effect on the lips for a cool lived in look. I love this product because you can put on one layer for a subtle look, or build it up to wear as a bold statement lip. The shade 954 ‘Radical’ is the perfect bright orange-red. I love to put some in the center of my lips and then blur out the edges with my finger.
Kosas Cosmetics Weightless Lip Color
There are so many things I love about Kosas Cosmetics. Not only are they a clean beauty brand with amazing minimalist packaging, but the formulation of their products is truly amazing. Their Weightless Lip Colors are hydrating, long lasting and have the most amazing color payoff.
The shade Electra is a true Parisian red. It has a cool, blue undertone that is flattering on so many skin tones. I love to build up the intensity of this shade so that is really the star of the show. I pair it with natural skin, curled lashes and one coat of mascara, and I’m ready for a night out.
NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil
This last lip product is something everyone needs in their beauty arsenal. NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl is the most amazing fire engine red that is flattering on everyone. I love this product because you can use a light layer as a stain, or build it up for an intense long lasting color. I also love that it’s a foolproof pencil that you can easily throw into your bag for a night out.
There you have it! Now go put on some red lipstick and show today who’s boss.
