If every morning you always feel like you have nothing to wear, you’re not alone. And no matter how often you shop for new clothes and with your closet is overflowing with clothes, it seems like it is never enough and you end up wearing the same outfits again and again. If you had enough of this closet drama and are ready for a change, keep on reading.
The idea of the capsule wardrobe is not all that new, but some of us may not know how and where to start when it comes to downsizing our closet. In order to have a successful capsule wardrobe, you really need to make sure that your clothing is going to be functional for you in addition to being stylish.

Having the correct pieces will save you time every morning, as well as looking effortlessly put together. In the meantime, it is giving us the versatility to mix and match pieces we already have. And in the long run, you will also maximize your dollar and outfit options. This will allow you to purchase fewer items but with higher quality.
So, are you ready to transform your closet now? Let’s get started!
Only keep the pieces that spark you joy
Firstly, you need to purge. The start is always the hardest part, right? But once you get into it, I promise things will only get more fun! Personally, I highly swear by the Konmari method when it comes to purging. Quoting Marie Kondo here:
Does it spark joy?
If not, let it go. Keep the ones that make you feel happy when you wear them and that fit you nicely at this moment (so not those jeans you promised yourself that they will fit you when you lose some weight.. I know, I’ve been there too!) There is no strict rule on how many pieces you need to have in your capsule wardrobe, but remember the motto quality over quantity.

It is also beneficial to have an open closet or a clothing rack because then you can see clearly all the clothes you have. This is a little bit of a mind trick in order to feel abundant with what we have, than constantly looking for what we are missing.

Stay with the classic basics
Basics are what hold outfits and looks together. It is like the glue for your closet. Speaking of classics we can all learn a thing or two from how the French girls do it. Good classic shirts and T-shirts, perfectly fitting denim, sweaters, and outerwear (depending on the season) such as blazers and trench coats. Make sure all the pieces will match with each other. The easiest trick for this purpose, is to stick to neutrals! But don’t worry if you love colors, make sure those are colors that you still see yourself wearing for a long time.

Organization is the key
There are multiple ways you can organize your closet. You can group your clothing together into categories- such as tops, bottoms, dresses, outerwear- you can also group them by occasion like work, casual, party, etc. And also by color, this one we promise it will make your closet look so aesthetically pleasing (and Instagram-worthy!)

Try to incorporate some print, to break up the look of your outfits. Polkadots, stripes, even leopard prints, go for it girl!
