There’s no secret that vintage clothing are becoming more and more popular– if not for style then certainly for the environments sake, I mean buying vintage or second hand is the second most sustainable option out there (the first, being naked). But how do we incorporate these stylish and sometimes eccentric pieces into our already existing wardrobes? How do we create that certain “Audrey Hepburn-esque grace”, with an added modern twist!
Scroll down to see how to mix vintage and modern style.

Build your outfit around the vintage piece and not the other way around
Say you bought a beautifully detailed (and rather statement) vintage blouse that is so gorgeous that you just want to frame it and hang it on your wall but is suddenly faced with the dilemma of trying to match it to the rest of your wardrobe.
Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. Just wear it with some simple pieces and build your outfit around it. Put on a pair of raw jeans, slip into your favorite kitten heels, grab a baguette bag and you’re good to go.

Accessorize with some Vintage jewelry and make your outfit more fun
This is a great way to help blend the vintage with the modern without diving straight in. jazz up your simple outfit with some cool 70s sunglasses or why not pay a visit to your childhood with some colorful hair clips or a headband? Vintage accessories are super trendy at the moment and the perfect addition to any simple outfit.

Vintage outerwear
It’s a great way to add an elegant flair to an outfit – If you’re wearing a modern outfit, simply throw on a 70s suede jacket for that instant cool-girl vibe. If you’re looking to add a more elegant flair to your wardrobe, pair your simple look with a romantic 50s coat – think modern Audrey Hepburn. A vintage coat is timeless and will stick around for a long time before it goes out of style. It’s the kind
of piece that will bring an outfit to a whole new level.

Experimenting with hair and makeup
from different eras can be a great way to add a classic touch to a new outfit. I’m currently obsessed with the seriously flattering ‘70s- Esque Bardot fringe.
