According to MFW, earthy tones are the new millennial pink

Opening Milan Fashion week with Jil Sander’s collection by presenting minimalist monochromatic outfits that are paired with contrast bags for an ultimate look elevation. The natural fabrics and simple color palette created some of the most memorable show. Next was Alberta Ferretti who made us want to wear safari pastel outfits all summer long. The Max Mara show focused on new silhouettes using different ruffles details in one-shoulder tops and dresses and by emphasizing the waistline with the coolest belts, high waist bottoms and by creating outstanding total looks that are layered with oversized jackets and coats. Fendi pulled up a show full of pockets, each item had its own signature pocket. Last but not least was Prada with their remarkable styling and accessories.

What really stood out in Milan’s Fashion week shows and continued to appear over and over again on the runways and in street-looks was the earthy color palette, three colors in particular; chocolate brown, shades of orange and Beige. Those colors came just on time to transition us into winter mode while the bright neon trend is still in sight and the light pastels that usually appear during summertime are still on board which is very refreshing to see. It is a harmonious merge between warm and cold that suits the seasons year round.

There’s a misleading prejudice that pulling off a total outfit consisting of shades of brown might interfere with your natural skin tone or won’t suit your style, while there is some truth to that, it is important to find your own brown, a requirement that was clear during this week. We counted limitless shades that could potentially match any skin color out there. These hues not only make a tasteful statement by themselves, but also work perfectly when paired together. Chocolate can look sophisticated and could make a good alternative for your irreplaceable classic black, not to mention the legalization of pairing blacks and browns together, which once was considered the biggest sin of all. On Prada’s show they figure it out very well.

Other colors that we can’t ignore are the shades of orange. This is another controversial color but with the right combination, as a full-on orange outfit and by choosing the correct hue of orange – some sort of a brick-like shade for example, you can look super stylish.

See below the outfits that are worthy to get inspiration from and that will be easy to incorporate in your wardrobe to insure your place on the trend wave.
