The Fashion month vibe: Top 5 trends from NYFW

There’s no doubt that September is the most important month in the fashion industry. The significant month is kicking off in New York fashion week, and While most fashion weeks usually take 4-7 days, this one has always been the longest and busiest of all. This year, NYFW is only 6 days, with less shows and a more exclusive audience in every event. The word on the street is that due to this change, there’s a feeling that everything is more professional and unique. You know what that means, right? Hotter trends. Well, we’re here to bring you every trend you need to know about! From neon colors to print mix, you better make some room in your closet, because you’re about to feel obsessed with NYFW trends. By the way, leopard print is still fashionable, don’t worry.

1. One Shoulder

We got a glimpse of this trend during the current spring-summer seasons, but it’s about to take over the fashion industry in SS 2019. Some brands (such as Cushnie and Brandon Maxwell) presented the known and loved version with only one sleeve, while others (like Tom Ford and Self Portrait) designed it with a twist. Either way, we love it.

2. Layers

Remember when in 2017 we were all obsessed with dresses on t-shirts? Well, it’s back with a few changes – Long shirts on long shirts, strapless tops on sweaters, one shoulder dresses on T-shirts and the options are endless. Next time you open your closet remember that Joey Tribbiani was right – could we BE wearing more clothes?

3. Print mix

Take a scroll in any social media and you’ll soon find out that this is the next huge trend in fashion. From the models on the runways to the influencers on the streets, wherever you look you see mix prints. It’s super cool, easy to style and not made for shy people. This trend dominated shows such as Ulla Johnson, Kim Shui, Monse, Vivienne hu and Self Portrait, and there’s no doubt that in a few months you’ll see it everywhere.

4. Ruffles

If the weather gets warm and we’re not wearing ruffles, is it really warm? The answer is no, and that’s why most of NYFW shows are packed with them. Get into a romantic mode, because ruffles are taking over dresses, shirts, skirts and pants.

5. Neon

The edgy type of color had its runway debut (or comeback) during men’s fashion week in June this year. Now that Neon is taking over September’s runways, it’s officially a must have trend. Matthew Adams, Jeremy Scott and Cushnie are just a few of the brands that fell in love with neon colors, and you are next.
