Next stop: 6 must have items to be considered a New Yorker

Buckle your seatbelt and prepare yourself for New York Fashion Week. In the last few days we witnessed original presentations and shows for example Maryam Nassir Zadeh whose motto is giving woman the freedom to dress despite the expected standards and still be comfortable and Ulla Johnson’s consistent skill for manipulating fabric and patterns that caught our eyes. Another presentation we always look forward to seeing is Nanushka, they transformed a New York loft into a South Western setting, every piece was to die for especially the printed nylon items. Mansur Gavriel show made us pray for summer to come sooner, his keen eye for bright details and embroidered sunflowers glowed in the lighting of the room which was filled with a happy sensation. To conclude with a classic tailored look Tibi show was an inspiration for a simple everyday office look.

Now let’s shift gears, we gathered 6 NYC styling musts for this season. Be sure to check it out not only in well-known stores but in vintage stores or even check your mom’s closet, and be like one of New York’s hottest street style walker.

Wrap your head around this: belts are in

Any top works with this new trend. From printed, to bright colors to chunky buckle and vintage belts, not only does it add style, but it is functional. It will emphasize your curves and adds an extra pocket for your belongings the belt is a great accessory. So many bloggers wore belts yet added their own flair to the outfit like Danielle Bernstein, Camila Coelho, Madelynn Furlong, Lauren Caruso, and more.

The new ‘cool’

No longer only in third grade are headbands cool. With different colors, fabrics, and patterns the puffed up headbands add a retro look to an outfit. Use Ruta Gyvyte and Courtney Trop for styling inspiration.

Leather is everywhere

This season we saw leather in all pieces, like long coats, skirts, purses and belts it is easy to style with and definitely worth the investment. Our favorite outfit was the long leather (vegan) maxi dress with a turtleneck underneath, super chic and warm.

Old is new

Vintage/ retro purses hit the streets by storm. Fendi, Dior, and Gucci are just a few we saw. If you happen to stumble upon one don’t hesitate, just buy it! We spotted Maria Von Behrens walking the streets with a popular vintage Fendi bag.

Bring comfy around the big city

Robe coats are the new rage. Cute, comfy and colorful statement piece that goes with any boots and Hair clip like Olivia Lopez styled it. You can also style it with a sharp blazer and cropped pants. Either way this faux fur coat is an essential.

Good vibes only

We saw the forecast of tie-dye print but didn’t expect it to be the success it is starting to be now. From t-shirts, pants, sweatshirts and dresses tie-dye is a universal favorite new trend. Here is how you can pull it off. Reese and Molly Blutstein are the perfect duo for making tie-dye work.
