Paris. The city in which the air is filled with art, beauty, and melancholy. No wonder Paris has always been the world’s number one tourist destination, even before the Instagram era. Personally, I am, and have always been, in love with Paris. Everytime I go, the experience is different as if Paris has many faces. And since the whole city is strikingly beautiful like a painting, it can get quite overwhelming when you go there for the first time and are looking for the best photo opportunities. For my first trip to Paris years ago, I didn’t prepare and was pretty clueless, no wonder I ended up taking some very cliché touristic photos, which still make me giggle whenever I see them now.
So if you are planning to take a trip to Paris soon, I have prepared you a list of photo ideas you should take when you are in Paris (although I admit, every corner in Paris is instagrammable!)
1. Sitting outside the Parisian cafe
Especially the iconic Café de Flore on Boulevard Saint-Germain. But honestly, I think all the cafes in Paris are special and each has its own charm.

2. Surround yourself with art
We mostly will think of the Louvre Museum when we think of Paris, but this city is filled with many other hidden art gems. My personal favorites are Musée Rodin (this one actually another pretty popular one!), Musée Bourdelle, Musée Jacquemart-André, and Petit Palais-Musée des Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris

3. A hint of Eiffel Tower
Instead of taking the frontal shot of the iconic tower, try having it in the background while you are walking along the Rue de l’Universite or standing on the Pont Alexandre III bridge. I promise your photo would look postcard worthy!

4. In front of the metro sign
Because only in Paris you can see the prettiest metro signs.

5. Browsing some second-hand books along the Seine around Notre-Dame
Who else here loves the smell of old books?

6. Take a rest in one of the Parisian gardens / parks
Since you walk a lot in Paris, taking an occasional break is necessary. My favorite ones are Jardin du Luxembourg, Jardin du Palais Royal (while you are here, try to stop by Cafe Kitsune to have a coffee), and Jardin des Tuileries.

7. A top down view of the Parisian rooftops
From the terrace on the 7th floor of the Galeries Lafayette department store, or from the Terrasse de Printemps.

8) A mirror selfie on Parisian streets
No specific location for this, since you will occasionally bump into many mirrors along the Parisian streets. Just keep your phone ready!

Now that you know where to take photos in Paris, please don’t forget that the most important thing, is to enjoy the trip itself. Bon voyage.
