How to make your apartment look Parisian wherever you live

Before I started living in my current apartment, I always had a clear vision in my mind on how my dream home would look like. I wanted it to be like one of those Haussmannian apartments in Paris. Spacious, big windows, high ceilings and a cute balcony, but this altogether can be a lot to ask, right? So I learnt how to identify the key elements that can bring those Parisian vibes into your home, no matter where you live. Sometimes, the little details are the ones that can really make a big difference! So, don’t worry if you still can’t afford the move into your dream home yet, because you can already start building your little castle bit by bit!

Are you ready to create un petit Paris into your home? Keep on reading.

Antique mirrors

Parisians love their mirrors, especially the antique ones. Bigger sized mirrors, are normally placed on top of the fireplace.

But if you don’t have a fireplace, you can also put it on the ground and lean it against the wall for that effortless feel, like Anne Laure Mais did.

Otherwise, you can also hang it on the wall like I do. A bonus benefit of having a big mirror like this is that you can take that quick OOTD snaps!

For the smaller sized mirrors, you can easily place them almost anywhere you want. Hang it on the wall or place it on top of your dressing table. I believe many girls got inspired by the way Christie Tyler decorate her Ikea table with an antique mirror, what a smart styling tip indeed!

Airy curtains that touch the ground

Even if you don’t have wall sized windows, you can still use this tips. Long curtains that touch the ground give a nice “royal-like” impression. For this, airy and light-colored curtains would work best. Plus, it is always nice to let more sun into the room.

Vintage furniture

A vintage piece has this ability to bring a warm and nostalgic feeling into your interior. It can be anything, a sofa, a table, dressers, chairs, anything you can get your hands on. You can find vintage treasures at your local thrift shops or secondhand markets. Sometimes you can also find interesting pieces online!

Flowers

Parisians always have flowers in their houses, either they are fresh and seasonal, or dried. Flowers brings so much good energy into space and I promise the colors will make you feel happy whenever you see them!

Books

Who knew that books can also be a lovely addition to your decoration? There is something aesthetically pleasing about books. If you have many of them, display them on the floor stacked till the ceiling or on shelvings as your personal library! And if you don’t have that many, you can place them on top of your fireplace, dressers, windowsills, or organise them nicely on the floor.
