4 ways to layer like a street-style rockstar

When the beginning of January arrives everyone dreads the temperature drop and needing to wear so many layers in order to stay warm despite the fashion faux pas. Having so many layers covers up the winter wardrobe and winter depression can keep you from having the fashionable sense when layering your winter outfit. Trust me there is a right way to look cool while staying warm during the cold weather.

If every morning you feel uninspired getting dressed don’t rush and buy new coat, just make sure you have the trendy coats of this season in your closet- which I am sure you already have. There is no way you don’t have the coziest coat of all the big teddy bear version, which I must admit when I first saw this trendy faux fur I didn’t think it would be so popular but is now one of the most instagrammable jackets of the season. You can style it with a monochromatic tonal all beige outfit or with white pair of flare jeans and ankle boots. If you don’t already have the fluffy coat I definitely recommend investing in one of these, it will for sure upgrade your winter look.

Another economic way to spice things up is to double up your blazers. For example pair it with a graphic tee underneath, then a smart fitted blazer, combined with any oversized coat you’ve got. It really just depends on how big your upper layer is because you don’t want your sleeves to get stuck or feel uncomfortable.

Personally, my favorite option is a big wool scarf. You can stay with your daily coat and just be able to add a pop of color or use a plaid print which will always look chic and elevate your outfit. In addition to the traditional way of wrapping a scarf around your neck, we saw some skirt/scarf popping up on our feed, maybe you can try it too. Using the scarf is a really practical technique because it is so flexible to move around in and wrap yourself in order to stay warm.

Last but not least for the cool edgy crowd is of course the puffer jacket. It is essential to surviving the freezing winter and also a great way to add color to your outfit. The puffer jacket is also very easy to dress up or dress down (make formal or informal), it really all depends what you wear underneath and if you add some jewelry, but when you work this outfit in your office you will still maintain a rock-star look no matter what.
